I have mixed feelings about my experience so far. Communication (verbal or messaging) has been difficult and not always timely. First and foremost I was never given a script for pain after the procedure. Apparently the order was never written or received by the triage nurses. Also lacking were clear discharge instructions on what to expect in the days immediately after. Secondly, scheduling subsequent appointments has been somewhat of an ordeal in finding an available dates. On a more positive note the ancillary staff have been pleasant to deal with and helpful in alleviating my worries and concerns, Daniela H, PAC2, Michelle B, RN, and PA Andrew G in particular are worthy of appreciative praise. Having worked in healthcare for over thirty-five years, I fully realize that clear and timely communication is often lacking or misconstrued and places the patient at the mercy of others. The system is at fault, especially in these outpatient settings where quantity often supersedes the quality of care. “Get ‘em in and get ‘em out” within a certain and restricted timeframe. Hasn’t managed care been a wonderful thing for patients, providers and support staff? So, the final assessment of my care and treatment is yet to be determined. I just hope others less informed or knowledgeable of medical procedures and office practices are given better care and treatment than I have up to this point.
